Georgia Baptist Engage 6 regional equipping events to kick off next week

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Georgia Baptist Mission Board will launch its new Engage 6 initiative with regional equipping gatherings beginning January 13–14 and continuing February 2–3.

The sessions, along with the Prayer 365 initiative, are designed to strengthen the evangelistic efforts of Georgia Baptist churches and will be held across all six regions of the state. Each gathering will focus on a specific area of evangelistic engagement, led by pastors whose ministries reflect those strengths.

Engage 6 grew directly out of insights gathered from more than 30 evangelism listening sessions held across Georgia in 2025. “What we heard is that churches want simple, biblical, reproducible ways to engage their communities with the gospel,” said GBMB evangelism catalyst Steve Foster. “We’re focusing on six core areas every church can put into practice, regardless of size or context.”

Those areas include evangelistic prayer, the Sunday morning experience, personal evangelism, reaching every home in your mission field, evangelistic events, and high-profile Sundays. Each region will host sessions addressing all six emphases.

GBMB Executive Director Thomas Hammond said Engage 6 is designed to equip pastors and churches with practical tools they can use “the very next Sunday. Our heart is to stand with them, encourage them, and equip churches to boldly share the gospel in their mission field.”

Hammond also emphasized the urgency behind the initiative. “Seven million people in Georgia don’t know Jesus. We cannot afford to be passive,” he said. “Now is the time for churches to rise with confidence in the gospel and compassion for the lost.”

“Engage 6 gatherings remind you that you’re not alone,” said GBMB evangelism regional leader Steven Wright. “You’re joining a room full of pastors who share your heart and your mission.”

Each Engage 6 gathering will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and is free of charge, with no registration required. GBMB evangelism regional leader Brad Marchman encouraged pastors to attend with others from their churches. “We want pastors to bring their teams. When leaders hear this together, it creates shared vision and immediate momentum.”

“These gatherings aren’t about theory,” Foster said. “They’re about pastors helping pastors. Attendees will receive real tools, hear real stories, and develop real strategies that work in real churches.”
