Steven Wright named new regional evangelism consultant for southwest and southeast Georgia By HENRY DURAND, The Christian Index Wednesday, December 10, 2025 ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Georgia Baptist Mission Board has named Steven Wright as its new Southwest and Southeast Regional Evangelism Consultant, expanding the team that helps churches equip members to share the gospel in their communities. “At Georgia Baptist, we are serving churches to advance the gospel,” explained Steve Foster, Evangelism Catalyst for the Mission Board. “One of the primary ways we do this is through evangelism trainings, conferences, church consultations, and coaching. I am excited that Steven is joining our evangelism team as a regional consultant.” Wright, who began Dec. 1, brings more than a decade of ministry experience from Central Baptist Church in Americus, where he has served the past 11 years as executive pastor, and Foster encouraged pastors in the region to take full advantage of Wright’s experience and support. “Steven has lived in Americus all his life. He has a passion for evangelism and is gifted in speaking and leading men’s events. I encourage our churches in those regions to use him as a resource in reaching their mission field with the gospel.” Wright said the opportunity to step into a statewide evangelism role is deeply meaningful. “The chance to build more relationships across our great state and make a greater impact for The Kingdom,” he said, is what excites him most. Those relationships are essential to fostering trust with pastors as they lead their congregations to reach their communities with the gospel of Jesus. Wright added that ministry leaders should know one thing about him: “I am in their corner.” Wright and his wife, Brandi, have been married for 29 years. Their oldest son, Chandler, serves as worship pastor and groups pastor at Cross Point Church in Perry, Ga., and is married to Katie. They have a son, Austin, who is two-and-a-half years old, and they are expecting their second child in spring 2026. Their son, Camden, and his wife, Eliza, live in Americus. Their daughter, Carley, is a junior at Georgia Southwestern State University. Wright expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join the Mission Board team. “I am thankful to [Executive Director] Thomas Hammond for trusting me with this opportunity,” he said. “I do not take it lightly and will serve the 1200-plus churches in my two regions, and ultimately all 3400-plus GBMB churches, with integrity, trustworthiness, and a passion that these pastors deserve and The Kingdom of Heaven is worthy of.” As the GBMB continues to invest in evangelism strategies, regional consultants like Wright play a key role in equipping churches, encouraging pastors, and strengthening gospel outreach efforts across Georgia. Wright hopes to help leaders throughout the southwest and southeast regions to reach their mission fields with clarity and confidence. --- PHOTOS --- File: 20251209-131629-9a3-wright1.jpg Caption: Steven Wright, newly named as Southwest and Southeast Regional Evangelism Consultant for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, poses with his wife Brandi.
