17 new congregations join Georgia’s largest religious organization; 1 mission, 6 church campuses also added

SNELLVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia Baptist Convention, the state’s largest religious organization with 1.4 million members, grew even bigger and more ethnically diverse on Tuesday when 17 additional congregations, a mission, and six new church campuses joined its ranks.

Of the new churches presented at the Georgia Baptist Convention's annual meeting, three are Hispanic; three are African American; two are Korean; one is Vietnamese; and one is Russian. The remainder were identified as Anglo congregations.

“It’s encouraging to all of us when we’re able to welcome new churches into the fold,” said Georgia Baptist Mission Board Executive Director W. Thomas Hammond Jr. “These congregations bring an enthusiasm, an energy that is contagious. Their desire to join us shows the importance of having co-laborers in the harvest.”

The new congregations are Briarwood Baptist Church in Blackshear, The Favor Church of Atlanta in Decatur, Northstar Family Church in Flowery Branch,  Transformation Church in Gainesville,  Antioch Church of Jackson County in Hoschton,  Harvest Korean Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Hope Street Fellowship in Atlanta, Iglesia Bautista La Vid in Lawrenceville, Vietnamese Gwinnett Church in Suwanee, Forsyth Korean Baptist Church in Cumming, KP Church in Cumming, Living Stones Russian Church in Cumming, Friendship Baptist Church in Albany, Rehoboth Exchange Church in Perry, Willeo River Church in Roswell, True Believers Ministry Baptist Church of West Georgia in West Point, Harvest Baptist Church in Lula.

The new mission is Iglesia El Poder de Su Presencia in Cartersville. And the campus extensions are 1025 Church in Statham, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bishop, Warren Grovetown in Grovetown, Christ Place East in Jefferson, Riverbend Church Oakwood in Oakwood, and Revolution Church in Jasper.
